Nick Szamet
Nick Szamet is an accomplished leader in city administration and transportation planning, with robust experience in strategic financial oversight, municipal bus system management, and real estate planning.
Currently serving as the Manager of Administration for the City of Culver City's Transportation Department, Nick demonstrates expertise in managing an extensive operating budget of $45 million, securing federal program funds, and overseeing citywide audits for federal, state, and local funding.
In addition, he has many years of grant management experience, including statutory compliance requirements oversite related to EEO, Title VI, and DBE programs. He is also notable for his leadership in regional bodies and currently serves as the Bus Operations Subcommittee Chair (LA Metro’s regional body for municipal transit finance), which allocates more than $1 billion per year to LA County Bus Operators.
Prior to his current role, Nick was a Principal Transportation Planner at LA Metro's Real Estate Department, where he managed Union Station. Earlier, Nick served as a Senior Administrative Analyst in Business Analytics at LA Metro. His outstanding contributions include the design and development of sophisticated analytic models using Metro data sources and statistical software, managing a total department budget of $25 million, and leading a complex information systems design project for the Real Estate Department.
Nick was born and raised in Temple City, California. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California Santa Barbara and a Master of Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach. He is active in the California Transit Association.
