Tony Cohen
With over 30 years in Public Transit, Tony carries with him a wealth of practical knowledge regarding fleet maintenance, fleet transitions, mechanic training and regulatory compliance. As an avid supporter of industrial training programs, Tony spent time in his home country teaching apprenticeship technical classes at the College of Technology, Dublin. He was an advisor to the apprenticeship boards of both British Columbia and Manitoba, Canada in the development of the Commercial Transport Mechanics apprenticeship programs.
Working in public Transit in California for the City of Gardena’s GTrans, Tony introduced the City’s first a Transit Bus apprenticeship program under the California Department of Labor regulations. He also was an active member of CTTC’s education committee for several years.
For the past decade, working with GTrans, Sunline Transit and Long Beach Transit, Tony has focused on the transition of fleets to Zero Emission propulsion, and developing technician training schedules to comply with OSHA and NFPA 70E high voltage, arc flash safety procedures and Lithium-Ion Battery fire mitigation and best management practices.
Tony currently works with HDR Inc as their Senior Transit Bus Specialist.
